Confidential STD Testing in Livonia

A gloved hand holding a labelled blood sample tube for laboratory testing

Walk in, get tested, get answers, privately. No appointment, no explaining yourself to a receptionist, 7 days a week.

When should I get tested?

The honest answer is: more often than most people do. Get tested if you have a new partner, an unprotected encounter, a partner who tested positive, or any symptom that worries you, and periodically even without symptoms, because most sexually transmitted infections show none at all for long stretches. Testing on a schedule, rather than after a scare, is what catching things early actually looks like.

Is the visit really confidential?

Yes. You check in like any other patient, nobody in the waiting room knows why anyone else is there. The conversation with the provider happens in a private exam room, results are delivered to you directly, and your records are protected by the same federal privacy law (HIPAA) as every other medical visit.

What does testing involve?

Less than people fear. Depending on what’s being screened for, it’s a urine sample, a blood draw, or a swab: minutes of actual testing inside the clinic’s on-site lab workflow. Some results resolve quickly; send-out panels take a few days, and we contact you privately when they arrive.

What happens if a test comes back positive?

You get a private conversation, a clear explanation, and treatment. Many common infections are fully curable with a course of antibiotics, and the treatable-but-not-curable ones are managed far better the earlier they’re found. What you don’t get is judgment. This is routine medicine, and we treat it that way.

Why test at urgent care instead of waiting for my doctor?

Speed and friction. A walk-in visit today beats an appointment three weeks out, with an infection, the gap matters both for your health and for anyone you might expose. Open 7 days a week, no appointment, no referral.

Questions

Before you come in for std testing

The things people ask most often. There are more on the FAQ page.

What lab tests can you run?

Serenity has a lab on site. Rapid tests for COVID-19, influenza, and strep are done during your visit, along with urinalysis, blood work, pregnancy testing, and STD testing. Rapid results come back within the visit; tests sent out take longer and the clinic will tell you when to expect them.

Is what I tell you confidential?

Yes. Your health information is protected under HIPAA, and the clinic publishes its full Notice of Privacy Practices, which sets out how information may be used and disclosed and what your rights are. STD testing in particular is handled discreetly, and you check in the same way as everyone else.

Do I need an appointment?

No. Serenity is a walk-in clinic: come in, give the front desk your name, and you will be seen. There is no appointment to make and no referral to chase. Two kinds of visit are the exception and do want a booking, because time is set aside for them: IV drips and weight-loss consultations.

Can I be seen without insurance?

Yes. Being uninsured does not stop you being treated. Say so at the desk when you check in and you will be told what the visit costs before it happens, rather than after. Ask about the cost of any X-ray or lab test at the same time, since those are billed separately from the visit itself.

Will you send results to my regular doctor?

Ask at the visit and the clinic will arrange it. Coordinating care with other providers is a normal, permitted use of your health information, and it is worth doing so your own doctor has the full picture.
