Why do these three get tested together?
Because their early symptoms overlap almost completely: fever, sore throat, fatigue, aches. From the outside, and honestly, from the exam table, they can be indistinguishable. But the treatments differ entirely. Flu caught early can respond to antivirals. Strep needs antibiotics. COVID-19 has its own protocols and isolation guidance. The test is what picks the right lane.
RSV rides the same rapid-test workflow. It matters most for infants, older adults, and anyone with lung conditions, where knowing it’s RSV changes how closely the illness gets watched.
How fast are the results?
Rapid tests resolve in minutes, during your visit. You leave knowing what you have, what to take, how long you’re contagious, and when you can go back to work or school, instead of waiting by the phone.
When should I get tested?
- Fever with sore throat or cough, especially during fall and winter
- A known exposure: someone at home, work, or school has a confirmed case
- Symptoms that a workplace or school requires you to clear before returning
- Any sudden severe sore throat in a child, where strep is common
Timing matters more than people expect: flu antivirals work best inside the first 48 hours of symptoms.
What if the test is positive?
Then the visit is already in the right place. The provider prescribes what the diagnosis calls for, explains contagion windows, and documents anything your employer or school needs. A positive here means treatment starts immediately, not a second appointment somewhere else.
What if it’s negative?
Also useful: a negative result rules things out and tells the provider where to look next, whether that’s a different virus, allergies, or further testing. Either way, you don’t leave with a shrug. You leave with a plan.

What lab tests can you run?
Serenity has a lab on site. Rapid tests for COVID-19, influenza, and strep are done during your visit, along with urinalysis, blood work, pregnancy testing, and STD testing. Rapid results come back within the visit; tests sent out take longer and the clinic will tell you when to expect them.
Do you treat children?
Yes. Serenity treats children and adults, and a large share of walk-in visits are for children: ear infections, sore throats, fevers, rashes, minor injuries, and school and sports physicals. If your child is very young, call ahead and the front desk will confirm before you drive over.
Can urgent care prescribe antibiotics?
Yes, where they are actually needed. A provider examines you, tests where testing changes the answer, and prescribes an antibiotic if the illness is bacterial. Most colds, sore throats, and coughs are viral, and an antibiotic does nothing for those, so a good visit sometimes ends without one. Prescriptions are sent to your pharmacy before you leave.
Do I need an appointment?
No. Serenity is a walk-in clinic: come in, give the front desk your name, and you will be seen. There is no appointment to make and no referral to chase. Two kinds of visit are the exception and do want a booking, because time is set aside for them: IV drips and weight-loss consultations.
How long will I wait?
It depends on how many people are ahead of you, so no clinic that gives you a number on a web page is telling you the truth. Call (248) 482-8809 before you set off and the front desk will tell you what the clinic looks like right now. Walk-in care is generally far faster than an emergency department for the same complaint, because everyone here is a non-emergency and nobody jumps the queue for a heart attack.
